As nearly as can be learned, the insurances amount to £4575, distributed as follows :— Union, £1575; South British, £ 1 1."0 ; Victoria, £SOO ; New Zealand, £600 ; Royal, £300 ; Standard, £J5O. The total actual loss is estimated at i' 5500. With the exception of the Caledonian Hotel, the furniture and stock ot the other buildings were saved, although damaged in removal.
