*"J .- *'„-<>. London, May 7. It is announced that Mr. G. A. Macfarren and Mr. Arthur S. Sullivan, the well-known musicians, and Mr. George Giove have been knighted for their services in connection with the Roy.il College of Music. The Royal College of Music was opened to-day by the Prince of Wales, in the presence of a large and distinguished assemblage. , The proceeding* passed off with great erlat. In the ' course of the opening address His Royal Highness took occasion to thank_ Sic W. J. Clarke and Sir Thomas Elder, of Australia, for their scholarships to the college.' ' ' There is no change to report in the money or produce markets. The homeward mails, via San Francisco, from Auckland March 27, were delivered here to-day.

Fenian Alarm in Halifax. London, M.iy 8. Intelligence is to hand from Halifax, No\a Scotia, that much alarm is felt there, in consequence of a report which is current that some Fenian torpedo vessels have sailed from Boston for Halifax. It is feared that an attack upon the shipping at that port is intended.
