"Ther^Tvere' present :_ His Worship ijhe Mayor, Crs. Jouob; fOaudin,- Bradjey*' Milkmaid, Cochrane, Lovett and Yon Stunner. Th'e'MayoV.'itr accordance With' notice; moved, " That application be made to the Minister for Public Works, under the act of ISB2, for funds in aid to construct two permanent bridges, to replace those carried away- by the latq flood at; Galloway -street and the county road.''—: Tnis. was seconded, by CCrt. t Jones, and carried unanimously. Cr. Gaudin moved, and Cr. Jones seconded,, " That his Worship the Mayor be requested to interview the Premier re the main road on the East side of the borough in reference to the reconstruction of the bridges washed away by the floods.''— This was carried unanimously. Cr. Jones moved' 1 " That* Mr Sandes be instructed, to , prepare ( . alternate, ; plans and' specifications, brick > and' I timber, with an estimate of the co§t of each, to take the place of the bridges in Hamilton East, washed away by the late rains, in ordiir thatthc council may apply for aid under the "110-ula and Bridges Construction Act/ 1852." Mr Whi taker told him that nothing definite was known with regard to the Governor's j movements, but if he intended to include Waikato in his itinerary, due notice of the fact would be given.
