The Governor's Visit. Auckland, Last Night. The Governor, at the invitation of the Harbour Board, made a tour of the harbour to-day, examining the docks and other points of interest. In responding to his health, his Excellency said they should be more sparing with their praises until they knew more of him ; until in fact to use a familiar phrase, " The potatoe is cooked.'' He said the Auckland harbour had perhaps greater capacities than any other harbour in the world, and the praises bestowed upon it and the ! scenery of Auckland fell far short of the reality. He commented on the constructioaof the big dock, which he said was a capacious enough' dock for the largest vessel in the British Navy. Board of Education.
