At the private sale, 'held at, the residence of Mr McNeish, Pokono, on Saturday last, there was a very numerous attendam c, and satisfactory prices throughout. At Remuer.i on Thuisday, dairy cattle at profit, ranged from L 0 to LO. Stores were in demand at improved values. Fat cattle in brisk enquiry and better worth, ranging betWeen 2Js and 27s the 1001b 1 !. Scarcely the usual number were submitted by auction, and most of them were habitues of. the yard, consequently, the demand wns not eager. At tho Durham Yards competi • tion was steady, and most of those entered were disposed of, although in some instances vendors had to submit to a reduction of reserves. We quote— Hacks, from £5 2s Od to £14 10s ; active medium draughts, at from £22 7j> Od to £24. Wool, hides, and skins : The supply has been but limited. Prices ranged— Hides, at from l^d to 3jjd per lb ; skins, from 7d to 2s Od ; wool, from Sjd to Od. Seeds : Poverty Hay ryegrass, from 6s to 0s per bushel ; cocksfoot, 6s Od to 8s fld. Cattle : There has been increased activity in the market, and an improved demand for all descriptions, conscqucntly,'prtccs have had an upward tendency. At Newmarket, on Tuesday, the yards were moderately well filled. The demand for all descriptions was better than on the previous week. At Pukekohe, on Vcdnfsday, the yards were crammed, and ready purchasers were found for all yarded. We quote— JJeef. irom 23s to 20s Od, and an advance ot 2s per head on young stores. Sheep . The supply has been short of requirements, and, consequently, prices have an upward tendency. Wethers sold at from 14s to 17s ; ewes, 12s Od to 15s ; lambs, 5s 3d to 14s. Pigs : Scarce, demand good, value unaltered.
