Sunday Trading. Aucklavd, Last Night. The Auckland police have hud two informations, against Daniel Skclton, of the Nottingham Castle Hotel, for Sunday liquor selling.

The Public Health. No cases of fever or measles have been reyoi ted to the Sanitary Inspector since Thursday last. One case of diphtheria was reported to-day.

The Free Library. The committee appointed to deal with the matter have decided to recommend the City C'oiuicil to reserve all allotments of lands at the corner of Wellesley-street and Coburg-ibtieet, opposite Ciowthei's ttablcs, as a site for theFiee Library and proposed Ait Galleiy.

The Drowning in the Harbour. At the inquest to-day on Charles Brown, found dead in tlio harbour, it Mds shown that he was seen going towards the wharf with Susan Duunaeu early on Sunday morning. A verdict of "accidentally drowned" was returned.

Cricket. A ciiekot inatuh has been arranged to take place on Saturday next between the Auckland repiescntative tuaut which recently went South, and the team which is to be selected from the oi the players to represent Auckland againsi the Taranaki eleven.

Board of Education Election. The election of members of the Board of Education to fill the vacancies caused by the letirement of Messrs Goldie, Luke and Prime, took place this morning. Th,e Mataura. The inward cargo of the ship Mataura lu\s now bepn discharged, aud she will be docked to-morrow for the outward cleaning. Ou Fridaj ,or Saturday she will be berthed at the railway in order that the sheep from Waikato can be, conveniently conveyed to the ship's side by traiu. Special trucks have been fitted up for the carriage, of the meat, and arrangements have been made to receive the first shipment of 230 sheep from Waikato- on Monday next. The refrigeratiug machine has been working so of ten )}§fqre r that there will be no necessity, to ,hayp any preliminary trial of its power. It will probably be in full working order next week. '
