At Pokeno, on Monday last, .i larger muster of cattle than hitherto were yarded. Uictp was also a l,u ko attendance, and btock sold better than for many bales. At lVury, on Wednesday, there was also a large number of cattle yarded. Calves were dull ot sale, and mmy remained unsold, but all other classes of stock, particularly cows, were in better inquiry, and more withdrawn from the auction. At Rcinuera, on Thursday, d.urv cattle, unless of choice quality, were, at ;latc values, yen ling steers slightly better worth, Ya.t cattle were in full numbers, trenerally light weights, suitable for the season. Prices were slightly m advance of last week, and ranged from 22s to 21s the lOOlbs. llic sheep maricct was unusually full, but prices were fully sustained, and in some instances an advance of Is per head was obtained. Wethers i anged from Ist* 6d to 18s; ewes, from 9s to 15s each. Lambs were aho plrntiful, and lower in price; they brought from (Is Od to 11s Cd each. I-ew pigs were yarded. A iair number ha\e been offered for sale, but few of them were of a good stamp, and prices ruled m favour of the buyers. About the usual number wore submitted tor sale by auction at the Durham Yards on Friday. Bidding was languid, but a good many changed hands. Hacks, £_.> to AU, light harness- horses, £3 17s Od to £1, ; twits, light to medium draught, L 9 10s to L2o. Wool, hides, and skins • Wool sold at from 6d to 0W per lb : hides, in bad condition, from id to Z 2d\ skins, from Is to -', 2d. Cattle • There has been a good supply of and demand for fat beasts, but other descriptions were comparatively neglected. At Newmarket, on Tuesday, there was a fair muster of dairy stock, but prices weie lowoi than on the previous week. Very few stores were offered, and tl.e demand was s.ack, but there was no noteworthy alteration in values. Beef fully maintained the previous week s prices. Sheep. Less than the usual number were yarded on Tuesday, at Newmarket, and prices had an upward tendency. Wethers sold at from 13s Gd to 17s (id: ewes, 10s to Ms. Lambs increased in value, and sold at from 7» 3d to 1 is. Pigs: A large number yaidcd, and prices were much higher than on the previous week.
