WELLINGTON, Tuesday.
The suit instituted by Mr Hunt against Sir Arthur Gordon comes on for hearing at the Supremo Court in April. Mr Hunt lias now reached .Samoa, and is expected to return this, -way in a month's time. He -will bring with him several Samoan chiefs, who purpose giving evidence on his behalf. Mr Fletcher Johnston, defendant's counsel, has not yet returned from Samoa. Last Night, The tender of Stock and Clark, Christchurch, for the deep seam contract, Otago central railway, has been accepted, tho amount being £25,273. The report of the commission appointed to enquire as to the best route for the extension of the main trunk railway, South Island, was forwarded to Government this day by whom it was sent to His Excellency. It is understood that its "purport will not be made public until after the Government have had fall opportunity ot considering it, and perhaps not until* the meeting of Parliament. James Mcßrearty was to-day committed for trial on a charge of forgery and uttering.
