' The trial of the editor of the United Ireland, who was anested on December 2oth when the newspaper was confiscated by the police on account of the publication ,of seditious articles, was brought. to a conclusion to-day. ' The jury, however, were unable to agree, so a new trial has been ordered. Cardinal McCabe, the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Dublin, is seriously ill, and his condition is stated to be critical by his medical attendants. Mr., Gladstone, who was expected, to, return here to-day from Cannes, is still at that place. His return has been postponed indefinitely. The tiial of the Phcenix Park murderers was continued at Dublin to-day. Kavanagh, the cab-driver, who was arrested by the police, has turned infoimer, and in the course of his examination gives conclusive evidence regarding the assassination ot Lord Cavendish and Mi 1 Burke. He described the way in which the crime was perpetrated by the piisoners Carey, Delaney, Kelly and Brady. Kavdiiagh also admits that he drove the car used by the assassins of Mr Field. The case has been adjourned to Tlnnsday next, the loth inst. Sir Stallord Northcote arrived heie ycstciday fioin a crui&e in the Mediterranean.
