The Ringio is a fine-looking of 1430 tons, with a crew numbering 378, Capt. Sto being in command. ,The steamer came up the harbour this morning 'and hoisted the English ensign, which she saluted. , Later in tfie day this, was responded to by the Wellington Artillery. The Riugio will probably Here for two or three weeks', • and ' after visiting other New Zealand ■ ports will leavta for Peru. Owing to the heavy gale blowing to-day no communication was held .with the vessel. It is understood that; her crew 'is composed 1 wholly of Japanese. She is armed with six ,GOlb, muzzleloaders, two Krupp guns and two brass guns, 4 Übs. The Colonial Secretary has forwarded a communication to the City Council, requesting that the utmost courtesy and attention may be bhown ,to the visitors dm ing their sojourn here, and the members of the council will probably pay a visit to the vessel tomorrow.
