Tun Melbourne witness gave evidence in the Massey case to-day, identifying Mrs. Brown who sold debentures there. The accused >yere''fully commited for trial, two additional informations being withdrawn. The bail for' Massey himself (who has never been able to find it) was increased £1500, with two sureties of £700 each. Last Night. Reid, wiio was boots at the Railway Terminus Hotel, and who fell from a third storey window on Wednesday, died to-day in the hospital. Young Basire, who was hurt at Port Chalmers yesterday, lies in the hospital unconscious. Mr Alfred Austin has accepted^ on behalf of Young Scott, the challenge of David O'Leary to walk anyone in the Australasian colonies. The great American pedestrian has just .arrived in Melbourne, and Mr Austin has written to him backing Scott to walk him a twentyfour hours' match* for £100 or £200a-side, the match to take place in Dunedin.
