Melbourne, February 6. Sir Buy.vx O'Lochlex, Premier, addrc&sed his constituents at iancefielcl last night. He justified bis . administration ot, the Ticasury, and attributed the failure of the loan to the Stock Exchange "bears," and expressed himself as still sanguine that the loan would be floated. Ho defended the administration of the railways by his colleague, Mr Bent, but stated that he doubted the ability of the proposed Board of Management. In his speech he did not announce any new policy, and was received in a lukewarm manner by the meeting, The ship Berengaria was successfully floated off last night.
• [Received February 7th, 2. p.m.] Mkluouknk, Yesterday. The political speeches made last night gave a first intimation of the probable coalition between the Constitutionalists and Liberals. Mr Gillies, speaking at Kchuca, denounced the ingiatitude otthe I Government with whom he declaied he would henceforth have no tie. The feeling of the cotfntl'y, jhe)sa^d, ( was in favour of a strong Government, capable of practicable legislation, and composed; of rea- | soltabld men, in a position to sink pruty feeling, and .re-unite in, national, -work. He hoped the modus viveiidl would be discovered, and pledged 'himself to efforts in the direction indicated. Mr Graham Beny spoke at Geelong, and 'announced .that he would defend the Education Act," i against' all assailants.
