Our annual regatta is usually held on New Year's Day, but it will be remembered that at that time there was a melancholy drowning accident in the harbour, which was the means of bringing about the postponement , of the , meeting till thu anniversary of the province. No effort was spared by those having the mauagament of „ the arrangements jn connection with the regatta to make it a success, and their exertions have met with a fair reward. ' The rainy weather was probably; the means of rendering the number of "spectatdrs less "than it might" otherwise haye 1 been, although the number was far from small.
