We have to regret the unwillingness of ihe Board of Education fco appoint a sewing-mistress to this school, as we considei it is highly neceg-' Siiry lor its well-being, and hope the incoming QommittQe will make further endeavoius to obtain this object. The painting of the school-house and teacher's residence has been completed tlnough a special grant from the Board of Education for the purpose, of £12 2s Gd. There was some unpleasantness and delay in connection with this work, owing to. tho unsatisfactory manner of carrying out the contract — the committee, considering pho contract price a good one, resolved to have the work iairly done by the contractor. The retiring committee, in handing over tre management of the school to their suc, ccssois, are gratified in being able to say that they consider the Waitetuna school is in a progressive and healthy condition. — Charles Sutton, chairman.
