Sydney, Yesterday. The Treasury returns show that during the December quarter the revenue of New South Wales amounted to £2,050,000, an increase of £163,000 as compared with the corresponding quarter of 1881. For the year just ended the total revenue was £7,4*20,000, an increase of £704,000 on the year 1881.

(Received January 3rd, 2 p.m.) Mklboukxh, Yesterday. The proprietor of one ot the totalisators on the Champion Race has absconded. Two thousand pounds are owing to winners. The police decline to interfere in the matter. The Melbourne papers agree that the Englishmen's display of cricket in the recent match was disappointing, and all express the opinion that the team was beaten on its merits. Fifty thousand persons paid for admission during the three clays' play. The various Victorian goldmining companies during the past year paid dividends to the amount of £863,000, being a large increase on the previous year. The quartz mines paid £360,000, and the alluvial, £298,000.
The Sugar Market. Mauritius advices, dated 14th December, to hand per steamship Natal, report that the weather was favorable to the planters, but labour was scarce. The sugar market was active, 1 and large business was doing for Australia at former prices, which were firmly maintained. The freight market had declined.
