MR CORBOY'S NEW HOTEL AT KIHIK IHI .
Witiiiv the past twelve months several new buildings, both for purposes ot business and private residences, have been erected in Kihikihi, and those who remember the settlement two years ago, and who visit it now, cannot but be struck with the progress which it has made within the short space of time which has since elapsed, both in the matter of business and development. The latest addition to the business accomodation of the place is a fine, .spacious hotel which has been elected by Mr Coiboy, the pioprietor of the old "Alpha"' building. The inci casing pi ogress of Kihikihi, which has become very marked within the past few months, convinced Mr Corboy that the accomodation of his old building was too limited for the raxuhements ot the place, and he was consequently vrananted in his present undertaking. The neu building, w hich occupies a most commanding site, adjoins the old house, and wlien completed, pi onuses to afioid accomodation lntenor to no hotel in the distiict. On the giound floor is a handsomely finished billiard-room, for ■which an excellent t,iV>le has been seemed. The fittings of this room, and the accomodation w Inch it pionuScs, should make it a favourite with all lovers of the popular game. The bar is also a roomy, and well finished ap.utnient. A .spacious sifcfcing-tooiu ami dimng-ioom .ate divided fiom each other by folding doors, so that, when occasion requires, they can be made into one long room. The kitchen is detached fiom the main building The up.stdiib poition of the building i-» di\idedintoa sitting-ioom, and eight bedloynit, The sitting-] ootn is well lighted and loomy, and occupies a good position in the fiont ot the building. Of the bedrooms some are double and some single. Together with the old hotel, \\ ltli w hicli the new house is connected, there are in all t\\enty-si\ looms. The entire cost ot the undertaking will amount to about ClOOO. Mr -las. Mandeno, ot Te Awamutu, was thcaiehitect andtoicniau of the wotk, and upon him the new building, f loin its design and general appearance as w ell as tin; quality of the workmanship, reflects much credit. We sincerely hope Mr C'oiboy will not be disappointed in his anticipations of the luture requirements of Kiliikihi and district.
