At the private sale held at the residence of Air. Clcghorn, on Saturday, there was a very numerous attendance, and good prices throughout. The buggy brought L3O : horsus, L 24 to L2B ; dairy cows, J,(i to LJ) each. The usual sale of skins, hides and tallow, on Tuesday ■was fully attended. Hides were in loss than usual number, and prices ranged from 2£d to 3^d the, lb. ; skins, 3s lOd to Us each ; tallow, 27s to 32s the cwt. At Remuera, on Thursday, dairy cattle were in usual numbers, and late values. Store cattle, consequent on the continued dry weather, at lower values. Fat cattle in usual numbers, and light weight well fatted in brisk enquiry, but heavy cattle wetc lower in prices than for several weeks. Prices ranged from 23s to 20s thc.lOOlbs., and were equable throughout the sale.' Fat calves plentiful, and lower in prices 2s (id to 5s each ; those of plump quality brought irom lbs to 30s each, bheep in less number than usual. .Shorn wethers at 2id the lb.: lambs in average supply, and ranged from 7s till to 2&>, but the greater number brought from 12rf(3d to Us each. A large number were entered .it the Durham Yards on Friday, and there was a large attendance of bujers. A shipment from Wangaiuu being the principal atti action. The competition \yas good throughout, and with \ery few exceptions, lots were cleared. There remains an unsatisfied demand for good upstanding horses for coaching purposes. We quote Hacks, from L8 f>s to Ll7 ; light harness horses from Lll to LID 5s ; spring cart horses LI!) to L 22 15s ; actn c light draughts 1/25 to 28 ; heavy draughts LSi. Hides and skins and wool.— l he hides offered were in bad condition, and sold at from 3d to 3{d. Some in very bad condition were quitted at ljd. Skins Is lid to Is 4d. Wool Pieces and locks 2| to 4d ; fleece in bags, .">|d. Cattle in unusually large number h.i\e been disposed of. llicre was a. slightly upward tendency in prices of stores, of which a large number were brought forward. Hecf was a shade easier, and dairy cows unaltered in value. The Newmarket yards on Tuesday were crammed with stock, a larger number of stores being jarded than for some time. Dairy rows were m adequate supply ot medium description, and many of them aged. Fat beasts were sufficient tor requirements, and prices receded fully 3s per 1001b.. For top sorts we quote, calves, 17s Gd to 22s ; yearlings, from 23s to 29s 6d ;tv\o yc.ir old heifers fron L 2 2s (id to L 2 lfis : dry cows, 1.2 5s to L 3 10s ; two jcar steers, L 3 to L 3 15s ; grown steers, L 5 to L 5 17 (id. _ ishecp : The Newmarket yards were vvere_ filled on Tuesday ; there was spirited competition, and prices ruling the previous week were sustained.
