Tin: opening match of the Hamilton Cricket Club, between teams selected ami captained by Messrs Wood and Browning, respectively, took place on .Sydney Square, Hamilton East, on Saturday last, and resulted, owing to the high scoies of Wood and Palmer, in an easy victory for the former's team by 70 runs. Each side had only eight players to bat, but had thirteen in the Held. Wood's team went in first, but owing to the excellent bowling of Browning, were all disposed of for 21 runs in their first innings, but in their second they were not got rid of until they had made the large score of 131. Browning's team were all out for 31 and 31 in their first and second innings, respectively. The following are the scores :—
