RUMOURED LOSS OF THE STEAMER L ALL A ROOKH.
Fears were cnteitaincd in Auckland on Saturday tbat the Lalla llookh had been lost at sea, as nothing had been heard of her since her departure from the Manakau on Wednesday. We received the following telegram last night: — "New Plymouth, Monday. — No tidings have yet been heard of the Ldlla Rookh. It is now absolutely certain that some serious mishap has befallen the steamer, as s>he has not appeared at either Raglan or Waitara. It iB quite possible that some accident has happened to the machinery,, and if so she may be in Kawhia, or under Woody Head repairing or waiting for assistance. She is in charge of Captain Robinson, who is well acquainted with the coast in that locality. M r Waller has the vessel insuied in the South Biitish Office for £1100, £600 of which is reinsured.
