Waikato Times Office, Friday. AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKKTS. Mr Au-kkd Huckland's Wrfki.y Rkpoiu.— At the Haymarkct, fodder was in good supplj , and realised good prices. There was a la>gc number of horses brought forward, and with few exceptions all were disposed of at satisfactor) prices. At the Haymarkct, on Tuesday, hides and skins were in larger than usual number. Prices were without alteration. Sound hides ranged lrom 3d to 3fd the lb ; best skins ob tamed 5s lOd each ; wool, , in sm.ill parcels, 6Jd to 6Jd \ locks, 3{d each ; tallow, 20s the CWt, '"In'the cattle market there has been an increase in the number of stores sola At Waiuku, on Saturday last, about 150 head were yarded, and all lound locil bujers at Lite values. At the Remuera Fair, on Wednesday, above 1000 head were yarded, and with the exception of a few pens of heifers, all were sold There were less crown steers than hitherto brought forward ; those were the class mostlj in request, and an advance over late markets of fulJv 10s per head was obtained, and m.my buyers* unsatisfied Prices ranged from L 5 to L 6 10s. Well-bred steers of all ages wore keenly competed for, and good prices obtained for them. Young cattle, ranging from ten to fourteen -months old, brought from 40s to 60s each; at the same time stunted cattle, twelve months older, sold af the same figures. Females were at low values throughout the sate, rarely bringing- more than one-half the price* obtained for steers, and the gcnrral condition of the cattle was indifferent— many very thin. At Kcmucra, on Ihursday, dairy cattle were dull of sale, Store cattle numerous, but no improvement in values trom those ruling at the Fair on Wednesday. Fat cattle in usual supply, and at first rather easier in price, but rallied as the sale proceeded, and fully List week's prices were on the whole sustained Fat shpep in moderate numbers only, those in their wool slightly better wnrth ; shorn sheep at last week s values , fat lambs in lull numbers, but good demand, and last week's prices obtained throughout. Pigs in short supply, and good inquiry. Fat cahes were also in less number than usual, and good prices obtained for them. Prices for fat cattle ranged lrom 25s to' 28s the lOOlbs ; averages obtained wore, 7 steers, J. and J. May, M 0 4s; 19 steers, Awitu, L 0 18s 6(1; 8 steers, W. Taylor, L 9 5s 6d ; 8 steers, A. On Friday, at the Durham \ards, above an aveiage number -were submitted, ihcre was a fair amount of bidders, and a large number of spectators, the shipment from Christchurch being the principal attraction. We quote— h.iclvS, from L8 to L' 24 10s ; light harness horses, from Lid to 1,22 ss ; heavy spring-cart horses, from L 24 5s to hij , draught, from L32 10s to L 46. Wool, hides, skin and tallow : Ihere was rather a large quantity submitted on Tuesday, bales were readily effected ; wool, in grease, at 6jd to7jd ; locks and pieces, 2}d ; hides, from 3d to 3^d per lb ; skins. Is 2d to 5s (id ; pelts, 5d to 9d ; beef tallaw, 19s Cd to 24s 6d per cwt ; well rendered mutton, JOs Cd per cwt. Cattle . Ihe supply has been unusually large of dairy and btore stock, and an adequate quantity of fat bcis's were brought forward. Ihe Newmarket Yards were well filled on Tuesday, and although prices in many instances were not up to the expectation ot vendors, there was no downward tendency as compared with the last few weeks, and quotations were unalte;ed. At Pukekohe on Wednesday, there was again a largr muster, competition was steady, and almost without e\- | ception, those jarded were disposed of at iSewmarket rates. Sheep : 'The Newmarket Yards were moderately filled, and there was a steady demand, and there was no alteration in the dead weight values as compared with the previous week. Store wethers sold at 10s 9d; tat wethers, from 17s to 25s ; shorn wethers from 13s Od to 14s 3d. Lambs plentiful, and sold at from 8s to lGs 3d. Pigs : But few yarded, and prices were exceptionally high.
