The objects of the Auckland Freezing Company (Limited) are the preservation (by freo/.ing or otherwise) of Beef, Mutton, Pork, Fresh Butßer, &c, in large quantities, and in such a manner as to benefit the public genor.illy as consumers, and by securing remunerative prices to assure mutual advantages both to the Farmers and to the Shareholders of the Company. I In order to carry out these objects it is proposed :— Ist.— To acquire (by lease with a purchasing clause) a site on the line of i ail way in the Waikato, suitable for the following purposes— (a.) The Slaughtering of Livestock. ('>.) The utilisation of the offal in the most remunerative manner, by manufacturing artificial manures, boiling down tallow, and producing ncats' foot oil, &c. 2nd. — In like manner to acquire in the City of Auckland, a site, thereon to erect a freezing chamber, and requisite freezing apparatus, capable of holding from 1000 to 2000 bullocks. 3rd.— To construct cooling trucks for the transmission of meat from the Waikato to Auckland. 4th.— To export meat and dairy produce in vessels specially adapted for the safe carriage thereof. sth. — To store in such freezing chamber, dairy produce, and like perishable commodities. It is well-known that during the past twelve months the average price of beef in the Auckland Province has not exceeded eighteen shillings per hundred pounds weight. The promoters of the company desire to assure to the shareholders twenty-five shillings per hundred pounds all the year round. This can be effected by freezing the meat and by disposing of it wholesale from the freezing chamber or from the railway trucks (when the markets would allow a profit) or by exporting to other markets. Mutton and pork could be dealt with in a similar manner. It is considered within the mark to quote the number of cattle required for the Auckland market at 250 per week. The average weight is 7001bs. Thus it will be readily seen that the increased price per bullock assured to the farmers will be about £2 10s. This would be an advance of £2,500 per month upon the cattle sold in Auckland alone. It is estimated that the present cost of sending cattle to the Auckland market, of yard fees and of commission for selling, exceeds 10s per head. The saving of this latter sum, added to the increased price guaranteed by the company as above stated, will raise the price of all fat stock to about £3 sterling per head above the average prices ruling during the past year, and must consequently affect the prices of all horned stock. The expense of killing, freight and freezing ready for export is estimated to be less than £1 per beast, and the profit derivable from the hide and offal would yield about £2 sterling per head. The promoters of the company propose to become purchasers, from shareholders only, of good fresh butter at Is per pound and upwards, with a view to export the same to the English or other markets. Thirty shares to be the minimum number to qualify shareholders to sell beef to the company at 2os per lOOlbs, and 100 shares to qualify a director. The exporting of meat will cause an increased production, will stimulate farming operations, and will place an augmented and unfluctuating value on all land within the Auckland Province. Having in view the fact that the proper carrying out of the objects of the company will resuljf in a vastly increased and general prosperity, the promoters confidently submit to the general public the safe and certain gain to be derived from this investment of capital. The sharelist will be open to the 24th of October. The business in future will be carried on by Mr John Cook, who will discharge all liabilities owing by the late firm, and receive all accounts owing to the Alexandra branch. G. A.
