—«. Waikato Times Office^ Friday. WAIKATO MARKETS. Messrs TV. I. Hunter & Co. report that they held a sale of horses at Cambridge on Saturday last. Over 70 were entered, and nearly all were disposed of. Draught colts fetched from /20 10s to £30; active plough horses and marcs from £18 to 1.24 ; draught mares, L 24 to 1.32105; hacks, L 6 to L2O 10s. At Ohaupo, on Thursday, the cattle yarded were principally young- stock, and the demand was better than it has been for some time.

AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKETS. Mr Alfkkd Huckland's Wki-ki.y Kkpokt. — At the Haj market, on Sept. 20, h.iyand straw was unusually pleutiful, but maintained late values. Hay brought from 2s Od to (is the cwt.j straw, from 20s to 35s per load. There were .i large uumber of inferior horses brought forward, and with a few exceptions, all were disposed of. Good horses brought high prices. At the Haymarket, on Tuesday, a small sale of hides realised full values, good quality brought from 3jd to Id the lb. bhecpskins are now becoming of more value, those bold brought from 4s to os lOd each. Tallow, from 20s to 23s 6d the cwt At Pukekohe, on Monday, there was a large muster of stock, and good enquiry throughout the sale at''currcnt values, all were sold satisf.ictoilry. At Kcmuera, on Thursday, dairy cattle wcie almost unsaleable. Store c.ittle generally in low condition, maintained their late values, and good i steers were a shade higher. Fat cattle in | unusual supply, and an increase on last week's prices were in one or two instances obtained, a few choice animals light weights, realised 335, but prices varied from that to 25s ; average for Waikato cattle were —24 steers from Eureka station £9 J2s 3d each ; 10 steers and heifers, J. Barugh, £7 lls 3d ; 8 steers and cows, W. Taylor, £1 18s. The market of fat sheep was unusually full, and prices were lower about 2s each. Good wethers m their wool brought from 15s to 22s ; short wethers from lls to 13s (3d each. Fat lambs in good number, met with a better sale than last week, of fully 3s pet head, prices ranged from 10s to 18s each. Pigs were in moderate number only, and late values. Competition was good throughout the sale, and almost without exception, lots were cleared We quote —Hacks from L8 10s to L2O ; medium-sized colts, from Ll3los to LlO 15s, active quiet draught horse, from L2l to L 26 ; heavy draught, for L 23 to L2O. Wool, Hides, andbkins : 'lhe spply has been limited. Sales were made of hides at 'Aid ; skins, 4s 2d to 5s Bd, Cattle : lhe markets for dairy and store stock has be-on dull but for fat beasts there has been a steady demand at the previous week's values, lhare was a good muster of the dary and store stocks at Newmarket, on Tuesday, but the demand was slack. Fot beasts were fairly plentiful, and were well competed for, the demand evinced being more brisk for top sorts 'lho number catalogued for the fair on Monday at Fapakura, was not so large as is usually the case at the October fair, but was sufficient for requirements At the usual monthly sale, on Wednesday, a large number were yarded, and prices ruled much the same as on the two previous days. We quote beet from 24s to 30s calves, 18s to 235; yearlings, from 25s to 3lis; twOTyear-old heifers, from L 2 5s to L 2 17s Cd; dry cows, L 2 to L 3 10s; two-year-old steers, Li to L 3 17s 6d; grown steers, from L 5 10s to L(J 2s Od. Sheep: A good many have been brought forward. There has been a steady demand and corresponding influence as regards prices Ihe wethers yarded were not so heavyweights as the previous weeks, the [lightest prices being 21s Cd each ; shearling, from 13s 9d to 14s 3d ; lambs, scarce and dear, l'igs : But few yarded.
