LAND RECLAMATION NEAR OH A UPO.
Mr T. G. Sandes met a number of the settlers residing between Paterangi and Ohaupo at the latter place on Tuesday last. The matter of lowering the various lakes in the district about eight or ten feet was talked over. This step, Mr Sandes estimates, would add about 2000 acres of the best land in the district to the farms of fie settlers adjoining the lakes. The lakes would still lem.iiu intact, the land adjoining them being drained. The drainage would be carried into the Waipa river. Mr Sandos, in company with some of the parties concerned in the reclamation, will visit the lakes next week in order to take the necessary levels.
