WELLINGTON, Last Night. At the inquest on Gertrude Windsor, a verdict was returned that death resulted from being run over. The lad, William Barnicle, who was driving the horse and cart which caused the accident, was brought up at the Magistrate's Court, on a chage of manslaughter, and remanded until 26th, bail being allowed. The steamer Wakatu is still ashore at Patea. Her cat go is being landed, and it is expected there will not be any trouble in floating her off when lightened.
CHRKTCIIURUII, Lasb Night. At the Schvin flax mill, a boy named M. Raddrugh had one arm caught in the machine, and it was so severely lacerated that it had to be amputated.
DUNEDIN, Last Night. Kcmpthorue, Prosser and Co. pay an interim dividend of 10%.
KAIKOURA, Last Night. Ketcli Emerald from Foxton, laden with timber for Kaikoura and Lyttelton, arrived here yesterday, and at low tide when being beached, she bumped on a rocky ledge abreast of the Jetty, and immediately filled with water. There was a heavy roll at the time. The vessel is buoyed, but the cargo is damaged.
