There was a moderate number of horses brought forward, all of which were disposed of at satisfactory price"!. Heavy draught marcs brought up! to £37 i active spring-cart horses, £30 ; hacks and light harness horses, from £0 to £,''23. The pigs advertised brought £2 each. At the Haymarket, on Tuesday, hides were* in less than usual-nurabcr; best price obtained was 3}d the Ib. Sheepskins were in usual supply, and ranged from Is 4d to 5s Od each ; broken (knees, 4d ; wool, in grease, OJd the lb ; t.illow, 2(>-> the cwt. \t tl»i» special sale, held at Air James Wallace's, on Saturday last, thore w.is a (jood attendance of settlers. The horse stock were fully competed for, and good prices obtained. Unbroken stock ranged from £16 to ,£2O j broken- in horses, £20 to £35 10s. For the implements the bidding 1 was slower, and many cheap purchases were obtained, for all were of good quality, and in perfect order. At Reroucra, on Thursday, there was no alteration in the price of dairy stock. Store cattle, with the exception of grown cattle in fresh condition, were not so saleable as usual, and a(, lower values. Fat cattle were in fully average number, but generally light weights, and were better worth about 2s the lOOlbs., good cattle bringing 20s the lOOlbs. throughout the sale. For the ewes advertised there was a good inquiry: they brought 22s each. Fat sheep were in less number than usual and better worth ; 3£d to 4d the lb. were the ruling prices. Lambs were in limited number, and brought from lls to 25s each ; and iat pigs Were again in good inquiry throughout the sale. Messrs Hunter and Nolans Weekly Report.—Horses : There has been increased animation in the market, and prices for those of a' good stamp had an upward tendency. An increased number were entered at the Durham Yards, and there was a large attendance, attracted by the Wanganui shipment ; bidding was unusually spirited, and with one exception, all the horses were disposed of under the hammkt. We quote : Hacks, from £7 7s 6d to £10 10s ; light harness and spring-cart hones, £11 6s to £23 15s ; medium draught, from £23 to £20 10s. Wool, hides, and skin : On Tuesday, there w.is a fair supply at the Durham Yards, and improved demand. Hides sold at 2^d to 2Jd per lb ; skins, 2s Cd to 5s 8d each. Cattle : Activity has charai teriscd_ the market, and a good supply of all descriptions has met with a corresponding demand. '1 he Newmarket Yards on Tuesday were well filled with dairj and fat stock. 'I here was a moderate number of young stores, but no grown ones. At Pukekone, on Wednesday, the yards were completely crammed. There was a good attendance of buyers, and there was an upward tendency in values for all descriptions, which was perhaps more marked in calves, which sold at fully 3s each advance on last week's quotations ; other stores, 2s ; dairy cows, unaltered. Beef advanced fully 2s per lOOlbs. Sheep : Notwithstanding the non-shipment of some 250 holdover for next week, there was a good muster at Newmarket on Tuesday, and last week's values were fully sustained, 22s 9(l^ being the top price for wethers. Pigs were in increased numbers, and good porkers sold at fully 3d per lb live weight.
