Whisper is by Flatcatcher out of Silence, Flatcatcher by Touchstone out of Decoy, Touchstone 'by Camel out of Banter, Decoy by Filko da Puta out of Finesse, Silence is by Melbourne out of .Secret, Melbourne by Humphrey Clinker out of Cervantes marej Secret is by Hornsea out of Solace. Newminster (siie of the great horse Hermit) Chillianwallah's sire, is by Touchstone out of Beeswing, Touchstone by Camel out of Banter, Camel by Whalebone out of a Selim mare, Banter by Master Henry out of Boadicea, Beeswing by Dr. Syntax out of an Ardrossun mare, Lady Gough (Chillianwallah's clam) is by Launcelot full brother to Touchstone out of Janette ; Launcelot by Camel out of Banter ; Jeanette by Birdcatcher out of Perdita. Sterlingworth haa more of the pure Touchstone blood than other sire in Australia, his dam being by a son of Touchstone, (Newminster) his grand dam by a full brother to Touchstone, and his sire's dam is also by a son of Touchstone, which is really the bat blood in the world. Performances. Sterlingworth was bred at the Sheffieldlane paddocks and sold by Messrs Tattersall at Doncaster when a yearling to R. Jardine, Esq., for 1,600 guineas. The same day his celebrated half-brother Isonomy (the best thoroughbred in the world) was sold for 36u guineas. At Redcar Meeting, August 14, 1879, in an all-aged stakes he carried the top weight, lOst., ridden by G. J. Osborne, which' he won easily, beating eight others. On October 14th at Newcastle-upon-Tync he won the Trial Stakes in a canter by three lengths, carrying top weight, beating five others. Next day carrying lOst. 51b. he won the Welter Handicap by three-parts of a length, ridden by G. J. Osborne, beating five others. At the Newcastle Summer Meeting he ran second for the Town Welter Handicap in a field of eleven, Wandering Willie first, Muscatel who ran third for ,the Oaks, third. The following spring at Catterick Bridge he ran third for the Brough-hall Handicap, in which there were ten starters, amongst them Hilarius, winner of the Cesarwitch. Stanlky is rising three years old, by Lord Derby, out of Blossom ; Blossom by Matchless, out of Blossom, who was by Cumberland, thus possessing a combination of the best anil staunchest blood in the colony. He is an immensely powerful colt, with lots of bone and hair of the finest quality ; is a grand worker and perfectly quiet. He won first prize as a yearling, and first as a two-year-old at the Auckland Shows 1880 and 1881. All mares proving not in foal to be served free of charge next season.
