Wellington, Last Night. The Council met at 2.30,. „ : Mr Noata presented a petition against the Crown Land arid Rating Bill. Wellington Cemeteries' BilT was" read a second time. The amendments on the Law Practitioners Billfrom the House of Representatives were agreed to, bo as also were amendmentstffadtf in 'the~Auckiand University Colleger Bill.: ;j(Jn the Land Act, 1877 Amendment Bill being called* on to go into Committee, Mr Whjtaxer in a long speech thought the bill' should be put back till next Session, and moved it be read this day 6 months. i After further discussion, the Council divided, and the bill was committed by 19 to 16. In Clause 2, "The one-third area" was struck out on a division by 17 to 14. The debate was interrupted by 5 o'clock adjournment. ; , f
