THE CAUSE OF THE WILD GOOSE CHASE.
TO TIIE EDITOR Sir, — Will you kindly allow me to explain the mistake which occasioned the " wild goose chase" undertaken by Messrs Allwill, Deuglas and Forrest, as related in your issue of 24th mst. Had these gentlemen sent for their letters on either Monday or Tuesday, they would have received a notification posted to them at Kirikiriroa on Sunday evening by me, informing them that the meeting of the county council had been postponed for a month ; and as the resolution to do so was only agreed to at 4 p.m. on Saturday, notice could not have been sent earlier. — I am, &c, Jas. McPhersox, Clerk, Waikato County Council. Kirikiriroa, August 25.
