Thk House met at 2,30. Tho Private Tramways Bill and the Industrial Schools Bill were passed through committee. The amendments made by the House on the Friendly Societies Bill were agreed to. The Gas Companies and Consumers Liability Bill was recommitted. Mr Chamberlain moved " That in the opinion of tho council it is desirable that the Customs tariff be revised and amended in the direction of further and greater encouragement to local industries than exist at the present time." The mover spoke an hour and a half on the motion, which was then disposed of by the previous questions moved by Mr Oliver, being carried. The Law Practitioners Bill was read a third time. The Council rose at 5 p.m.
