Precautions against the Arabs. Alexandria, August 15. In consequence of the menacing attitude of the Bedowin Arabs, who are massing in the'neighbourhood of Mcx, it has been deemed advisable to strengthen the British garrison at the fort and reinforcements were despatched to-day for that purpose. ,
London, August 15, 4.30 p.m. The natives around Kafrodowar are spreading a report that Arabi Pasha has called a meeting of the Ulema or High Priests, and has obtained from them a fatua (sacred or clerical degree) deposing the Sultan Abdue Hamed 11. from his position as head of the faithful and appointing Arabi Cherif of Mecca in his place.
