The Case of Mr Joy. Auckland, Last Night. Samuel Joy, who has been in custody for some time £astP6n"a' charge of bigamy, was, to-day committed for trial at the next session of the Supreme Court.' ? Mrs Marion Prangle, to whom 'he was recently, united in matrimony,was a recent passenger from England.' She came out with Vesy Stewart s special settlers, and the match which has been the cause of so much trouble* was; arranged through ; an advertisement,.in .which Jpy^ invited correspondence' from anyone willing to becbine his partner for life, and' to which Mrs Prangle replied.
University Honours. Bishop Cowie, to-day, f 'presented diplomas to the following New Zealand University graduates :—J. I£.? Davis, M.A.; W. Fidler, M.A.," E. J. Macfarlane, B.A.
The Hermione. Most of the passengers by the ship Hermione, came'ashore to-day. There is no fear of the new arrivals finding any difficiiliy in securing employment.' ■' ,The demand, especially for skilled labour, exceeds the supply.
