Mr Knox KuroßTs : — The attendance at Saturday's sale was very large, and good competition for the various lines existed throughoi t the sale, which lasted till nearly 6 p.m. Owing to the late hour the crockery was not offered. The following prices were realised, viz. : — Turkeys, 3s (id each ; Fowls, Is fid to Is 6d each. Trees and shrubs : Camellias, 2s each ; roses, 4s per dor. ; apples, Od to Is 7d each ; plums, Id to Is 4d each ; peach trees, lOd to Is lOU^cachj apricots, 10d Is 4d each ; pears, Od to Is each. Forest trees realised fair prices. The total reserve in notes and bullion in the Bank of England is £10,700,000, or £500,000 less than at this day last week. New Zealand 4\ percent 1879-1904 loan has declined £ to 100$, ex div.; the 5 per cent. M)-'4o.lban remains at 107J; and the 5 per rent. 1889 loan at 107. Colonial breadstuff's continue dull at last quotations, viz., Adelaide wheat, ex warehouse, 60s ; New Zealand ditto, 49s ; Adelaide flour, ex ■warehouse, 36s 6d. Australian tallow is firm at 44s for best beef, and 45s Cd for best mutton. Best bcotch pig iron, No. 1, free on board in Cljdc, remains at 52s Od.

AUSTRALIAN FROZKN MEAT. London, August 12.— A portion of the cargo of the Orient steamship Lusitania, consisting- of several carcases of beef, was sold at Snuthficld 'rrfaikct to-day. Ihe meat was in excellent condition ; hind-quarters realised from (i{d to C^d per lb., and fore-quarters sjd to 2<Jd per lb. London, August 11th. — Consols remain at par. The market rate has been raised b> Is 8d to 2s 4d. It is now Is 4d below the bank rates of discount. New Zealand securities are unchanged. Colonial brcadstufls continue dull. Adelaide flour, ex waiehousc, lias declined to 55Gs a fall ol sixpence; Adelaide wheat remains at 59s and New Zealand at 495, ex warehouse. 'Ihe total quantity of wheat aflo.it for Great Hritdin n 2,300,000 quarters an increase of 100,000 quarters since the fifth inst. Australian tallow is firm, but unchanged in prices.
