DAIRY FARMING. Jerseys as Milkers.
Tub fchVee coSva which have g'iven'the best milk " recoids" ia the United States for a whole' year are all three Jerseys, namely, Eurotas with 7781bs ,of milk, JtfiWy (jMwuof Barriet<with'?7On>3, and JeYsey "Belle of Scituate with 7061b5. Jersey Queen has recently been sold to Mf«%. b. Darling for £400,' without rectfrded pedigree ; and it is thought she will increase her milk record to SOOlbs in the year. Professor H. E. Alvord has given an account of this cow in the columns of the Country Gentleman (Albany), in which it is stated she is of the old-fashioned style of Jerseys, large, heavy'-fraiHed^ and rather coarse, lacking nearly all the fine points, and quite all the fashionable ones, 1 of the latest type of this breed. There is said to be no doubt as to her being a pure Jersey. The following is the record of her latest lfiilkirig trial, commencing in May,' IBBI,' and completed to the end of the year tt 1 — J ' ' '{)!' . , ! At the time of greatest flow of milk it required over 17tt>s to yield lib of butter. The marked features of this record are the evenness in the butter quality of the milk (which is in striking contrast to the record of Eurotas), and the even product since July. Unless there 3hould be a very sudden falling off, the cow is likely to make the unprecedented record of 8001bs of butter in twelve months." v
