KIRIKIRIROA HIGHWAY BOARD.
The ordinary meeting of the board was held yesterday. Present : Messrs Primrose, (chairman) H. Steele, A. Swarbrick, and T. Runciman. The chairman was authorised tospendnotmore than £2 on labor for road repairs near Mr Zenas Owen's, exclusive ot cost of pipes. —Mr H, Reynolds, Manager of the Waikato Land Association's estate, wrote asking the board to spend the association's rates on tlie following works :—: — The Tawhia road the Hokonui to Piako road and Taupiri road. He pointed out that the two first had been formed at considerable cost, but for want of deepening drains and proper completion, they are practically useless for general traffic, and if completed they would be of very great benefit to the public. Recognising the importance to the association of having these works completed, he was authorised to state that, notwithstanding the already large expenditure by the association, a sum equal to £ for £ will be spent on such of these works as are within the boundary of the association's property for any expenditure authorised by the board. The rates estimated to be paid by the association amount to £400, and the writer made the following suggestion as to the allocation of the expenditure : — (1) Tawhai road, £100 ; (2) Hokumri to Piako, £200; (3) Taupiri road, £100.— Mr Swarbrick thought it unwise to allocate the board's revenue at the beginning of the year. He thought it better that they should deal with each work on its merits, as it arose.— The chairman suggested that consideration of the matter should be deferred till next meeting, in order that the members might think it over.— This suggestion was agrdecl to. — The following accounts were passed for payment :— J. Davis, £7 14s 6d ; Johnson, £6 18s ; Delaney, £6 18s ; Henderson, £s.— lt was resolved to write to the manager of the VVaikato Land Association for payment of subscription towards the road formation oh tramway (Brown's contract), viz. : half of cost of 33i chains at 18s 9d per chain.— The Chairman was authorised to make a culvert at Kennys Hill at_ a cost of £1 10s. This was all the business.
