WHANGAREI, Yesterday.
Tiik trial of the Poroto native**, for the assault cases, terminated yesterday afternoon, before Mr Clendon Bell, J.P., and the chief Taurau, assessor. Two natives were dismissed, and three sentenced, to two months' imprisonment each. The assault cases, though not so bad as first represented, wore very aggravated. Drunkenness was the cause.
