Waikato Time* Office, Friday. AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKETS. Mr Alfred Buckland's Weekly Report. — At the Haymarket, on July 14, fodder was unusually plentiful, and sold at advanced prices. Hay brought from 3s to 6s 9d per cwt ; straw, from £\ 6s to £1 16s per load. Less than the usual number of horses were offered, but those bi ought forward met with a ready sale. At Pokeno, on Monday last, a few dairy cows were brought forward, and mdst of these found ready buycts at current values.' At Drury, on Wednesday, thero was a large sale of cattle for this season of the year, , dairy cows predominating, and for those there was a good demand at im proved values. Nm fat cattle yarded, but store , cattle fully maintained late values. On Tuesday, at the Haymarket, scarcely an average supply of hides and skins obtained free competition. Hides ranged from 3d to 3Jd the lb ; skins, Is 9d to 4s ; pelts, 9d to 11s each broken skins, 3Jd and 4d the lb. At Remuera, on Thursday, dairy cows were in moderate numbers and late values. No store cattle yarded. Fat cattle in usual number, but generally light weights ; good animals were better worth, and ranged from 24s to 27s the 1001 bs, Fat sheerj were in usual number and without alteration in value from last week, bringing about 3d per 1b. .; wethers ranged from 16s tb 21s 'each. Fat calves at extreme values, and a full market of good pigs sold from 20s to 52s each. Messrs Hunter & Nolans Weekly Report .— Horses : There has not been very much doing, and no noteworthy alteration in value. About the usual number were submitted at the Durham Yards on Friday, by auction. Bidding was fitful, lor some animals a slight advance in values was civen, but the majority were without alteration. Wo quote : Hacks, from £8 10s to £18 ; springcart'horses, from £16 5s to £27 7s 6d ; no heavy draught horses brought forward. Cattle : The supply has bebn moderate, but the demand spirited, and an upward tendency for fat beasts was a feature. At Newmarket, on Tuesday, dairy cows were plentiful, but not of very good description, and a much larger number of stores would have found ready purchasers. Below an average number of butcher's stock was yarded, andithere was an upward tendency in prices, particularly for well Kitted animals, for which 26s f>er IOOIbs was given. Sheep: There was a arge number yarded on Tuesday, principally shipborne, and late quotations were fully maintained. Pigs : There has been a marked inquiry for good porkers, and, in consequence,_ the few in the market elicited keen competition, and sold at satisfactory prices to vendor.
