MY SHIPS. BY FLLY WHEELER.
If all the plrips I havo at sea Should come a-sailing home to me Weighed down with gcma and wealth untold— All well ! the harbour could not hold So many sails as there would be If all my ships camo in from sea. If half my ships came home from sea And brought their precious freight to me — Ah well ! I should have wealth as great As any King who sits in Btato. So rich the treasures that would be In half my ships now out at scs. If just one ship T have at sea Should come a-sailing home to me — Ah well ! the storm clouds then might frown ; For if the others all went down, Still rich and proud and glad I'd be If that one ship camo back to me. If that one ship went down at sea And all the others came to mo Woighed down with gems and wealth untold, With glory, honors, riches, gold, The poorest soul on earth I'd be If that one ship came not to me. 0 skies bo calm ! 0 winds blow free Blow all my ships safe home to me. But if thou sendest tome a-wrack To never more come f-ailinjr bac*. Send any, all, that skim the sea, But bring my love-ship home to me. "Maurine and Other Poems."
REVOLUTION IN A HERD 01' DEER. For years an old buck, the leader of the deer herd on the Boston Common, has maintained an absolute and malicious tyranny over the younger members of his own sex. His treatment rankled, and the other day when he shed his horns they made a combined attack upon him, which only ceaaed upon the death of the tyrant. The superintendent and his assistants attempted to interfere, but were driven out of the inclosure by the infuriated animals, which became docile again when their enemy was disposed of. They still preserve, however, a sort of sic semper tyrwuiis air, and thus far no one of tho\r number has laid claim to the primacy.
