IMPROVEMENTS TO TEE MASONIC HOTEL, CAMBRIDGE.
For some time past workmen have been engagad effecting extensive improvements to Mr Rose's Masonic Hotel, Cambridge, and after two months labour and the expenditure of over £1000 the hotel has now become one of the finest and largest in the Waikato district. The lowering of the footpath in front of the building caused the floor to be lowered a few feet, and the daily increasing progress of the district, necessitating an increase of accomodation, fifteen new rooms were added to the building. Thes6 include a bath-room on the latest principle, sitting-rooms, and bed-rooms, all well lighted and ventilated. There is now a total of forty rooms in the hotel. The billiard-room has been shifted from the back of the building to the front, and a verandah added.and several other minor improvements, including the fitting up of the bar, culinary department, and dining room, have been carried out. Mr Clemey, of Cambridge, was the contractor.
