LATER NEWS. THE BRITISH CASUALTIES. SUSPENSION OF THE BOMBARDMENT. RE-OPENING THE CANAL.
Alexandria, July 12, 6 p.m. It lias now definitely transpired that the English ironclads have suffered the loss of five men killed and twenty-seven wounded. Ths previous announcement that this was the Egyptians' loss was incorrect. No reliable information from the enemy's side lias yet been obtained. The bombardment of the forts which had been repaired by the Egyptians during last night, has now been suspended. Several fires are now raging in various parts of the city. Admiral Seymour has authorised vessels to pass through the Suez Canal at their own risk.
