DEATH OF ARCHDEACON LUSH.
It is with feelings of deep regret that we have to record the death of the Venerable Vicesimua Lush, Archdeacon of Waikato, and incumbent of -S. Peter's Church, Hamilton, which event took place at Parnell, on Tuesday evening, at a little after 6 o'clock. - The deceased clergyman was an old resident of the province, having arrived here in 1850. He was for many years stationed at Howick, and afterwards for fourteen years was incumbent of S. George' 3 Church, Thames, whence he removed to Hamilton in November last, having effected an exchange of cure's with the Rev. William Calder. The Venerable Archdeacon had been in failing health for many months, and only a week or two ago went to Auckland to try the effects of change, and to be nearer his medical adviser. Accompanied by Mrs Lush, he took lodging in Parnell, where he peaceably breathed his last, surrounded by his family (for his daughters had arrived from Hamilton the previous day) on Tuesday evening as we have stated. During his brief sojourn in Waikato, the deceased gentleman had, by his amiable ' disposition won the respect and the love not only of his parishioners, but of all with whom he was brought into contact. Courteous and kindly to all, he was the true type of a Christian gentleman, and, as such, his loss will bo widely felt.
