den's bush, Wangaroa, by a log rolling over him. The'infant son of ',Mrfc, Ball,' Pariiell, waa killed by being overlaid.
0 Drowned. . The dead' body'' of a man was fonnd yesterday on the beach near the mouth of the Herui river. The body was much disfigured, and was recognised as that of John King. At the inquest, from evidence adduced, it appears that the father of deceased had served in the 43rd regiment, in Waikflto, and was a pensioner. Deceased had been in the A.C. Force, alia at one' time was apprentice to LewisBon, jeweller, of Auckland. Deceased had been acting as billiard-marker, but had been drinking heavily. A verdict of "founddrowned" was returned.
