PARLIAMENTARY NOTES. [BY TELEGRAPH. — OWN CORRESPONDENT .]
The Opposition. Wklungton, Last Night. Last night's debate Mas most suggestive. Sir George Grey's Deferred Payment Settlers Relief Bill was under discussion for the second reading. At the hands of the Opposition, under the Montgomery auspices, it was received in terms of strong denunciation. The debate was protracted till an advanced hour. Sir G. Grey, however, sat it out and bottled up his wrath for his reply. He then turned on his late Opposition colleagues in a most feriocious manner, and literally jeered at Montgomery's assumption of the office of leader. The debate shows, if anything was wanted to show an utter vrant o f cohesion on the part of the Opposition, and offers a A r ery indifferent prospect to the no-confidence motion, which, we are still assured, will be brought down immediately on the production of the Public Works Statement, on Tuesday.
Hamilton Borough Boundaries. The Hamilton Borough Boundary Bill will be introduced early next week by Mr Whyte. It is understood that the original proposal in the bill will be restricted as regards the extent of the boundary.
