The nomination of candidates to fill the vacancy in the. council, caused by the resignation of Mr I. K. Vialou, took place at the council chambei s atuoon yesterday. The following candidates were nominated :—: — Thomas Qualtrouh. Nominated by Messrs William Jones and Silvester Davis. Jawbs McPherson. Nominated by Messrs P. Le Quesne and F. J. Yon Stunner. The polling will take place on Monday next at the council chambers.
