THE ARMED CONSTABULARY.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir — In to-day's issue you state that the Armed Constabulary are to go into ■winter quarters, tent life being so unpleasant, contributing to sickness, and that fifteen men were to be stationed here, and ten at Kilnkihi. We all know that tent life at this season of the year is anything but pleasant ; then, why m the name of common sense should a camp be formed in the Government paddock at Cambridge except for those for whom sufficient barrack accomodation could not be found at other stations ? At Kihikihi there is ample accomodation for twenty, and here fifty men, and more at a pinch, as there is a large libiary, which could be turned into a sleeping apartment, and all the necessary adjuncts for a large number of men. Perhaps this is not generally known at head quartets, as the powers that be seldom visit this station. Is it more healthy for men to live under canvass in Cambridge than in a good house hex*e ? Spes. Alexandra, June 20th.
