A USTRALIAN CRICKETERS IN ENGLAND. [REUTERS TELEGRAMS.]

London, June 19. The Australians commenced their cricket match at Sheffield to-day, against an eleven of Yorkshire. An enormous crowd of spectators was present. The weather was showery during the day, and the wicket was consequently somewhat heavy. The home team went first to the wickets, but with the exception of J. Phillips, who scored 38, they were unable to make a stand against the splendid bowling of the Australians, and were all disposed of for a total of 92. Garrett and Giffen both did great execution, the former taking" four wickets for 27 runs, and the latter five wickets for 16. The Australians then commenced their first innings, and when the stumps were drawn for the day had put together 94 for the loss of four wickets. The highest scores were made by Banuerman, caught, 34, and Murdoch, not out, 42. London, June 20. The cricket match between the Australian team and an eleven of Yorkshire was continued at Sheffield to-day. The weather during the day was fine, and the number of spectators on the ground was again enormous. The Australians, who had lost four wickets for 94 runs at the close of yesterday's play, resumed their first innings, and were all disposed of for a total of 148, of which Murdoch, who was given out lbw, contributed 97. The bowling of the home team was dead on the wicket, and their fielding was excelleut. The home team in their second inmngs succeeded in putting together 153. The Ingest scorers were Ulyett, 30 ; Lock wood, 22 ; and Eminett, 25. The Australians then went in tor second inning*, requiring 90 (*«■) runs to win the match, and when the stumps were drawn for the day had scored 25 without the loss of a wicket.
