A KEEN THRUST.
As illuteratmg the universal homage paid io wealth, a good story comes to us of two Toledo ladies, who met upon a recent social occasion. They had been in the habit of meeting upon toe same oooaaion for several yearß and— passiDg on. This lime they met and ehalted most affably. Said number one to number two : " How well yon are looking, Mrs. Blank. I think I bave never seen you look so well." " Ob,, yea," said lady number two, " but I think I shall be better looking next year if my husband's income keeps on increasing. Bioh ladies are always handsome." And she spoke bo laughingly that it was not until she had passed on that the very complimentary lady was fully aware of the implied rebnko. — Toledo Journal,
