The English Mail. San Fkancisco, June 13. The steamship City of New York, with the homeward English mail, arrived here to-day, two days before contract time. Egyptian Affairs. Caiko, June 14. The London Timn this morning publishes a telegram from Egypt stating that the Khedive and Dervish Pasha, Chief Turkish Commissioner, have sent a request to the Sultan that 18,000 Turkish troops should be despatched without delay to Alexandria. A proposition to hold a Conference for settlement of the Egyptian question is now gaining fresh piominence in European political circles. Caiho, June 15. A general exodus of Europeans from this city to Alexandiia is taking place. The offices of the English and Fiench Controllers-General have been closed. Alexandria, June 15. The British, German, French, and Greek vessels now in port have been ordered to take on board any subjects ot their respective countries who may desire to embark. 200 natives have in all been arrested in connection with the recent outrages.
