GISBORNE, Last Night.

The continuous downpour of vain has culminated in the severest flood which has occurred here for many years past. The Waipawa river overflowed its banks near Hutuko, inundating the country between there and Roselands. The effects at Ormond have been severe. Messrs Bloomfield, Wylie, Melville, and Smith succeeded in driving their stock to higher ground. The Arai bridge has been washed away. It was erected about three years ago, at a cost of £2500.
