Hay and Speed. Hon. Sec: Mr Knox. Directors : Captain Steele * Captain Runciman Mr S. T. Seddon Mr Isaac Coate& Mr John Knox Mr B. Wood Mr J. B. Whyte It is proposed to purchase co lease with the right of purchase), from 50 to 100 acres of land in a central position near Hamilton, and erect thereon the necessaiy buildings and plant. The Promoters believe that the want of an establishment for the manufacture of cheese, butter and bacon of a superior and uniform quality, and on a much move extended scale than has hitherto been attempted in Waikato, has long been felt. Witli the view of having such an association established on', 'ie latest American principle, and on such a scale as would pay the shareholders and producers, the piomoteis have obtained a' guarantee from ten fanners to deliver 30 gallons of milk each per day, for S months (.Sundays excepted), in each year, for a term of 3 years, and they consider such guarantee will justify the investment of the necessary capital in the proposed undertaking be&ides, they are assured of further sup plies from many other settlers. Associations of the kind have proved, in America, and other countries, not only directly remunerative, but have also greatiy enhanced the intrinsic value of land and stock in their vicinity. It is believed that the Association would be of the greatest benefit to the farming community, as the manipulation of such large quantities of milk by an experienced manager, and the use of the most improved plant, would ensure an article of a uniform and superior quality, which would always command a remunerative sale in the colonial and Home markets. It is also considered that by utilising the whey, together with the produce of the land in connection with the dairy, a large number of pigs could be kept and made into bacon, thereby increasing the profits, and supplying the local markets with an article for which there is always a demand, and which might ultimately become a large export. The Promoters therefore confidently recommend the proposed undertaking to the public as one likely to be highly beneficial to this district, and also a good investment for capital. Applications for shai'es to be made to the Secretary, Mr John Knox, Hamilton, on or before Monday, May 29.
