The Ohinemuri Shooting Case. Pakaka and Jlpiha will be placed, on trial to-morrow, for the Upper Thames outrages. Tha following witnesses have arrived to give evidence :— Sergt. Russell (police officer in charge at, Ohinemuri), Daldy Me Williams,. J. McWilliains, T. Powdrell (one of the survey party assaulted), and G. T. Wilkinson '(native agent at Thames).^ E. W. Puckey will also be examined.
Serious Accident. Accident with Firearms. An accidental shooting case occurred at Paumure. A boy named Portnell and his younger brother were amusing themselves with a pistol, utterly oblivious of the fact that it was loaded and capped, when the younger boy pulled the trigger and the pistol went off, the contents lodging in his brother's legs. The left leg, from the hip joint to the knee, is completely peppered with slugs or jagged pieces of lead, and the hip is severely scorched with powder. Dr Philson extracted a number of the pellets.
An Ecclesiastical Scandal. At a niectiug of the Presbytery to-day, the members of the congregation at New Plymouth petitioned that the pastoral tie binding them them to the Rev. Mr Breach be dissolved. The rev. gentleman awl one 6i the members who appeared characterised the statement in the document as false, and drew attention to one portion where several lines, afterwards crossed out, stated that he had embezzled £60 of the church funds. This he characterised as false. It was decided to refer it to a Presbytery inquiry.
Death of Mr J. B. Strange. Mr J. B. Strange, a well-known local politican at Parnell, died suddenly today, over 80 years of age.

The Licensing Court. At the City East Licensing Court today, the licenses of the Provincial and Metropolitan Hotels were granted, on condition that new buildings be erected. It was also ordered that improvements in the management of the High-street bar of the Auckland Hotel be made, and iutructions were given that "free and easys*' in the Metropolitan and Pacific Hotels be discontinued.
